BEIJING — China's textile industry posted robust growth in the first two months of the year, data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) showed.
The added value of textile firms with annual operating revenue of at least 20 million yuan (about $3.06 million) climbed 33.1 percent year-on-year, according to the MIIT.
The firms raked in 25.2 billion yuan worth of profits, surging 139 percent from the same period last year. Their combined operating revenue rose 35.8 percent year-on-year to 625.6 billion yuan.
In the January-February period, China's online retail sales of clothing products went up 44.3 percent year-on-year, while the country's garment exports soared 50 percent year-on-year to $24 billion.
