BEIJING — State Councilor and Defense Minister Wei Fenghe is in Russia from June 23 to June 25 for the military parade marking the 75th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory against the Nazis in World War II, China's Ministry of National Defense said on June 24.
At this critical moment of the joint global fight against COVID-19, Wei's visit will further deepen mutual trust and cooperation between the two militaries, and promote the further development of the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era, said Wu Qian, a spokesperson for the ministry, at a regular news conference.
The Chinese military has also sent a guard of honor to participate in the parade, according to Wu.
