State Councilor and Defense Minister Wei Fenghe and Vietnamese Defense Minister Phan Van Giang attended the Sixth China-Vietnam Border Defense Friendship Exchange, which was held in Dongxing, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, Binh Lieu of Vietnam's Quang Ninh province, and other border regions, on April 24.
The China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership has been growing continually in recent years, Wei said.
The Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with the Vietnamese side to push bilateral border cooperation to a higher level and inject momentum to the development of relations between the two countries and the two militaries.
For his part, Phan said Vietnam is willing to enhance cooperation with China on joint patrols, responses to natural disasters, and pandemic prevention and control, among other areas, to effectively maintain the security, stability and prosperity in their border areas.
The two armies have held five border high-level meetings since 2014.
