BEIJING — The total freight volume transported in China saw a 7.1-percent increase year-on-year to 51.5 billion tons last year, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed.

NBS data also showed the country’s freight throughput at major ports came in at 13.3 billion tons in 2018, up 2.7 percent from a year earlier.

Foreign trade freight throughput made up 4.2 billion tons, up 2 percent.
