BEIJING — Revenue of China’s electronic information manufacturing industry rose 6.3 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2019, official data showed.
The sector registered a 7-percent slump in profits as the operating costs gained 6.2 percent year-on-year during the period, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
Fixed asset investment of the industry saw a 5.5-percent increase from a year earlier, reversing the downward trend in the first two months.
In breakdown, profits of communications equipment manufacturers climbed 4.9 percent and that of computer manufacturers recorded a 51.7-percent growth, the ministry said.
MIIT data also showed China’s mobile phone output shrank by 14.7 percent year-on-year in the first quarter.
During the same period, production of laptops dipped 3 percent year-on-year while that of tablet computers surged 19.1 percent.
