BEIJING — The wholesale prices of China's agricultural products edged up on Aug 24, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
The latest China agricultural product wholesale price index came in at 121.63, up 1.22 points from Aug 21.
By 2 pm on Aug 24, the average wholesale price of pork, a staple meat in China, edged down 0.7 percent from Aug 21 to 48.07 yuan (about $6.95) per kg, while that of eggs climbed 2.3 percent to 8.03 yuan per kg.
The average wholesale price of 28 key types of vegetables tracked by the government rose 2.7 percent from Aug 21, while that of six different types of fruits remained flat.
The wholesale price index is compiled from data collected from around 200 agricultural wholesale markets and is updated daily based on the weighted average of price indices for goods including vegetables, fruit, aquatic products, livestock products, cereals, and edible vegetable oil.
