BEIJING — The wholesale prices of China's agricultural products edged down on Sept 27, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
The latest China agricultural product wholesale price index came in at 121.8, down 0.02 points from Sept 25.
By 2 pm on Sept 27, the average wholesale price of pork, a staple meat in China, went down 1.1 percent to 46.07 yuan (about $6.76) per kg from the level on Sept 25, and that of eggs lost 0.1 percent to 8.5 yuan per kg.
The average wholesale prices of 28 key types of vegetables tracked by the government declined 0.4 percent while that of six different types of fruits shed 0.9 percent.
The wholesale price index is compiled on the basis of data collected from around 200 agricultural wholesale markets and is based on the weighted average of price indices for goods including vegetables, fruits, aquatic products, livestock products, cereals, and edible vegetable oil.
