BEIJING — The wholesale prices of China's agricultural products edged up on Aug 31, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
The latest China agricultural product wholesale price index came in at 122.09, up 0.24 points from Aug 28.
By 2 pm on Aug 31, the average wholesale price of pork, a staple meat in China, remained flat at 48.42 yuan (about $7.06) per kg, while that of eggs climbed 1.1 percent to 8.2 yuan per kg.
The average wholesale price of 28 key types of vegetables tracked by the government remained almost flat on Aug 28, while that of six different types of fruits fell 1 percent.
The wholesale price index is compiled on the basis of data collected from around 200 agricultural wholesale markets and is updated daily based on the weighted average of price indices for goods including vegetables, fruit, aquatic products, livestock products, cereals and edible vegetable oil.
