“The main reason behind the surprise drop in March exports is the yuan’s recent strength,” said HSBC economist Ma Xiaoping. “I think while the central bank is focusing on accelerating the opening of the capital account, it will increase the flexibility of the yuan and reduce its interference in the market.”
