Work was completed on May 11 for a concrete-filled steel tube arch bridge over the high-speed rail connecting Chengdu and Guiyang, two capital cities in Sichuan and Guizhou provinces. The bridge’s total length is 494 meters, with a width of 60 meters. The span of the bridge is the longest among all the bridges built for high-speed rail. It is also made of concrete-filled steel tubes that weigh 28,000 tons, being the heaviest among that bridge type. The success of this key project has allowed experts to study the building of rare-shaped bridges.
