MEXICO CITY — China’s active participation in the G20 will make the world better off economically and financially, a Mexican expert said on May 24.

“China’s role in the G20 is of great importance, as its economy is in full development” and will benefit many other important economies in the world, Alberto Laborde, an expert in international relations at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, told Xinhua.

This year’s G20 summit will be held in September in China’s coastal city of Hangzhou.

“This summit will be a meeting between traditional financial organisms and the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), who will promote a new international economic and financial order,” Laborde said.

He added that unlike the G7, the G20 “will place an emphasis on the economy, leaving aside political matters.”

He also hailed China’s 13th Five-Year Plan for the period of 2016-2020, which stresses opener, greener and more innovative development methods, believing it will help global economy return to growth.

China can generate more economic cooperation and free trade in a way that is fair for all parties, Laborde added.
