ISLAMABAD — Air China, China’s flag carrier airline, announced on Oct 5 that it has decided to increase flights on the Beijing-Islamabad-Karachi route from four flights a week to seven starting from Oct 29 this year.

Air China launched the route between China and Pakistan in October 2016, starting with three flights per week and more that 120,000 trips on the route were recorded till September this year.

Hu Haitao, manager of Air China Islamabad Office, said at a route promotion function Oct 5 that the increased flights will better serve the exchanges between China and Pakistan in trade and culture areas.

Meanwhile, Zhao Lijian, ministerial counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, said that the development of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has boosted the two countries’ ties in politics, economy and science, providing a good opportunity for Air China to extend its business in Pakistan.

He also commented that China-Pakistan relations have entered into a golden period due to the smooth implementation of CPEC.
