URUMQI — The trade volume of cross-border e-commerce in Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region hit $1.22 million in July-September, the region’s customs said on Oct 7.
A total of 176,000 items have been exported from Xinjiang since the region started cross-border e-commerce in July, according to Urumqi customs.
Although the region is a late starter in cross-border business, it has great development potential, said Guo Ying, a staff member with Urumqi customs.
Goods such as cosmetics, electronics and batteries were among those exported to Russia and Central Asia.
