Vice-premier meets Texas governor

Vice-Premier Zhang Gaoli met with Texas Governor Rick Perry of the United States in Beijing on Sept 10, calling for closer cooperation between Texas and China’s local governments.

Hailing the sound momentum of China-US ties, Zhang said both countries have coordinated on major global issues and achieved new progress in areas such as trade, culture, energy and environmental protection.

He called for joint efforts to build a new model of major-country relations and ensure their healthy and stable growth.

Zhang said he hopes Texas and China’s local governments can enhance cooperation in such areas as trade, investment, energy, medical treatment and high technology.

Perry said Texas values its ties with China and expects to achieve substantial cooperation with the country.

The US delegation is visiting China at the invitation of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
