BEIJING -- Vice-Premier Wang Yang on Nov 7 met with the World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General Roberto Azevedo and the Australian Trade and Investment Minister Andrew Robb on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings.

While meeting with Azevedo, Wang pledged that China will continue to support the multi-lateral trade system.

China will also actively push for clear and positive signals among the WTO members in comprehensively implementing the Bali package, mapping out the post-Bali work program as well as wrapping up the Doha round talks, he said.

In his meeting with Robb, Wang said that China and Australia, which are strongly complementary in their economy and trade, should make concerted efforts to meet each other halfway in their talks on a Free Trade Agreement in a bid to finalize the deal at an early date.

Wang also called on the two countries to further deepen bilateral cooperation of mutual benefit so as to promote the economic development of the Asia-Pacific region and the world at large.
