BEIJING — Leaders of foreign countries and international organizations have sent a multitude of congratulatory messages to President Xi Jinping to convey their best wishes on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).
The following is an edited summary of some of these messages.
Bangladeshi President Md. Abdul Hamid extended his sincere congratulations to Chinese people, wishing that the friendly Chinese people can always enjoy peace, progress and prosperity. The president said he believes the friendly Bangladesh-China relations will strengthen continuously.
President of Timor-Leste Francisco Guterres, also known as Lu-Olo, said under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, China has made great achievements and plays an increasingly prominent role in the international community.
King Abdullah II of Jordan extended his best wishes to Chinese people, wishing China continuous progress and prosperity.
Lebanese President Michel Aoun said his country highly appreciates China's foreign policy, which upholds the common interests of all countries and is in line with the expectations of peoples of all countries.
He looks forward to further strengthening bilateral cooperation in all fields, and deepening friendship between the two peoples.
Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani wished China continuous progress, and hoped that the Qatar-China strategic cooperation and the friendly relationship will be further strengthened in the future.
Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi said China has made great achievements in all fields, and has effectively safeguarded world peace and stability. The China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative will help create a better future for mankind, he said, adding that he wished continuous and greater progress and development in bilateral relations.
Abdel-Fattah al-Burhan, chairman of the Sovereignty Council of Sudan, said in a world of profound changes, China has been marching toward its goal of realizing the great Chinese Dream, accomplished great achievements in domestic construction and international cooperation, and become one of the world's major countries.
South Sudan's President Salva Kiir Mayardit said the South Sudan-China cooperation, featuring mutual respect, mutual understanding and mutual benefit as well as win-win, has achieved a remarkable success, which shows that the two countries' partnership bears strategic significance.
Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said Ethiopia is dedicated to further deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between the two countries. He wished China peace, progress and prosperity.
Somalia's President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed said China has made great achievements in the past 70 years, and has consistently contributed to world peace and stability, and the friendly relationship between China and Africa as well as bilateral ties between the two countries. The president said he believes that China will continue to prosper and play a leading role in international affairs.
President of Djibouti Ismail Omar Guelleh said China has undergone tremendous changes, people's living standard has improved greatly, and great social and economic achievements have been made. He wished the friendly Chinese government success and Chinese people happiness and health.
Liberia's President George Weah said the friendly Liberia-China cooperation has effectively promoted infrastructure construction in Liberia and improved people's living standard. He wished the PRC lasting peace and continuous prosperity.
