BEIJING — Here are the latest developments on the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in China:

— People planning to visit Central China's Hubei province need to apply at least two days in advance, if they have overseas traveling or living history within 14 days prior to their visit, authorities said.

— All outbound interprovincial-level highways will open by March 27 to allow passengers to leave Hubei, though travel curbs will remain in place in the provincial capital Wuhan until April 8, according to the provincial department of public security.

— The first batch of over 800 people stranded in Hubei province has arrived in Beijing on the afternoon of March 25 after Hubei lifted outbound travel restrictions in all areas except Wuhan starting from March 25.

The transport of the people was carried out in a well-organized and spot-to-spot way, said Chen Bei, deputy secretary-general of the Beijing municipal government, at a press conference on March 25.

There are still more than 20,000 teachers and students from Beijing schools and universities stranded in Hubei, according to Chen.

— More provinces in China have further downgraded their emergency response toward the COVID-19 outbreak as the epidemic is receding in the country.

The provinces of Sichuan and Heilongjiang decided to lower their emergency response to the novel coronavirus outbreak from the second level to the third level on March 25.

A number of provincial-level regions, including Zhejiang and Chongqing municipality, have recently downgraded their emergency response to the third level, while Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region lowered its emergency response to the lowest fourth level starting from March 22.

— Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region will require "health codes" for people planning to enter the region, as part of its prevention and control efforts against COVID-19.

The codes will be based on their medical history, body temperatures and traveling and living history.

— Five emergency material transferring stations in Hubei have so far received more than 5,000 metric tons of donations ranging from medical supplies to daily necessities, according to the provincial department of transport.

— Beginning on April 8, many regional colleges in Xinjiang will start the new term in batches, though the specific dates of schooling remain to be determined.

— Nearly 20 provinces and cities across China have reopened their tourist sites as the coronavirus outbreak subsides.

China's cultural and tourism industry has turned to digital approaches to deflect the blow delivered by the novel coronavirus, picking up steam in its recovery and boosting fledgling businesses such as virtual tours.
