BEIJING — Amid further containment of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) epidemic, China is powering ahead in returning to work and resuming business and production. The following are the latest facts and figures:
— Beijing rolled out nine measures to support micro, small and medium-sized businesses in the city, including easing the approval process for resuming work.
Businesses closely related to people's livelihood, such as restaurants, grocery shops, beauty salons, convenience stores and repair shops, can decide to resume work and production at their own discretion, according to the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform.
— Some 3,770 tourist attractions in China have resumed operation and launched online booking access on Trip.com Group, the country's largest online travel agency.
According to Trip.com Group, tourists from Hunan, Chongqing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Beijing, Shandong, Anhui and Guangdong have booked tickets for tourist attractions for the upcoming Labor Day holiday through its online platform.
— China's job market improved last month as life and work gradually resumed in the virus-hit economy, official data showed.
The surveyed unemployment rate in urban areas stood at 5.9 percent in March, down 0.3 percentage points from the previous month, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
A total of 2.29 million new urban jobs were created in the first quarter of 2020, the NBS said.
