BEIJING — The population of China's migrant workers from rural areas reached 290.77 million in 2019, an increase of 2.41 million over the previous year, according to a survey report.
According to the report from the National Bureau of Statistics, the average age of these migrant workers stood at 40.8 years old, 0.6 years older than the previous year. Those aged above 50 years old accounted for 24.6 percent of the total, the report said.
Meanwhile, the average monthly income of these migrant workers posted a growth of 241 yuan (about $34.15) to 3,962 yuan, and their living area per capita climbed 0.2 square meters to 20.4 square meters last year, according to the report.
