The world meets to discuss China’s economic growth, with the China Development Forum holding its opening ceremony in Beijing on March 22.

Vice-Premier Zhang Gaoli delivered a keynote speech at the conference, welcoming guests and vowing to push forward with China’s “New Normal” growth model.

“Under this New Normal, the Chinese economy has three features, namely: changing speed, improving structure, and shifting growth momentum. We should recognize, adapt to and guide the New Normal. This will be the big theme for China’s economic development at present and in the future,” he said.

Domestic and international officials, scholars, political advisers and world-class business people have gathered in Beijing, including former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and IMF Chief Christine Lagarde, sharing their wisdom over China’s future.

The three-day forum will hold 43 activities, including 8 official meetings and 25 rounds of economic summits. The “New Normal” economic model and the “Belt and Road” initiative are major topics at the meetings.
