A piece of Chinese culture is on display now at an embroidery fair in Bijie, in Southwest China’s Guizhou province. It gathers artisans from the Miao ethnic group to show-off the best of their colorful embroidery, known as one of the province’s specialties.
More than one hundred skillful Miao embroiderers have brought their creations to the fair. Everything from costumes, headwear, jewelry and even articles for daily use are adorned with elegant figures and designs.
And every year, one of the participants wins for the best embroidery. This Miao craft dates all the way back to the Tang Dynasty. It’s known for its artistry and is an important component not only of the Miao culture, but also China’s heritage.
