In a bid to better understand the secrets behind China’s technical marvels, CGTN followed these master craftsmen to unveil the stunning work they have contributed toward the Chinese dream.

Meng Jianfeng is a senior technician at Beijing Gongmei Group with 23 years of experience. He is an artisan in the traditional Chinese art of “Zanke”, which means engraving a design into a hard metal surface by cutting delicate grooves into it.

It is a traditional Chinese craft dating back around 3,000 years. Some of the silver and gold-engraved platters he made were presented as diplomatic gifts for leaders who attended the APEC summit in 2014.
