Feng Zhenglin, the administrator of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), said China is planning to build more world-class airports.
Feng said there are three airport-intense areas in the country, including the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area, the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta region. At the same time, 473 million travelers used those airports in 2016.
Feng said the airports will serve international and domestic travelers. He also said the government will introduce more Chinese airports to international carriers, so that travelers will able to visit more Chinese cities.
Analysts said coordination of the different airports is the key to success.
According to a report released by CAAC in February, China is aiming to have 74 more civil transport airports by 2020.
