China’s cloud computing industry has enjoyed a boom in recent years. The 10th China Cloud Computing Conference is being held in Beijing, and the innovative development of China’s cloud computing industry is a key focus this year.

From working and studying to shopping, cloud computing is everywhere. It is already embedded in people’s daily lives. According to Wei Wei, the manager of Internet Business Division of Tencent, cloud computing works a lot like the human brain. It stores all the data you’ve amassed throughout your life. When you are shopping online, the website recommends products to you based on your website-viewing history. This is cloud computing, which will analyze your consumer behavior according to the storage data.

As companies continue to digitize their business data and internal systems, China’s cloud technology industry is expected to grow to $103 billion by 2020. The growing demand has led to foreign IT companies rolling out new cloud services for Chinese consumers and businesses.

Alain Crozier, vice-president and CEO of Greater China Region of Microsoft Corporate, mentioned, “We offer Azure Stack that can help you and provide you with the best of the cloud. But for places, or remote places, where the technology (doesn’t exist), maybe has structure, maybe has (it) in large cities or developed markets; this is another thing that Microsoft can do. This is what we have done with a lot of companies, like Xiaomi and many more.”

The cloud is a platform where all data gets stored. But the issue of safeguarding the data is an equally important issue to nearly all users.

“We will continue to develop security. Because security is fundamental for customers to trust the cloud, trust the cloud technology,” said Alain Crozier, vice-president and CEO of Greater China Region of Microsoft Corporate.

The cloud computing market is expanding rapidly worldwide. China’s cloud computing industry has experienced robust growth in recent years. But how this booming market can survive in such an intense business environment is worth considering.
