The ancient buildings of the Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City, lit up in a kaleidoscope of colors on the night of the Lantern Festival on Feb 19 thanks to an array of lanterns, lights and LEDs.

It was the first time that the opening hours of the Forbidden City were extended into the evening since the old imperial palace was turned into a national museum in 1925.
