The State Council General Office published a guideline on Aug 3 promoting commercial insurance to help the military’s development.

According to the guideline,

• the arrangement can help reduce soldiers’ worries, protect their rights and increase the army’s cohesiveness.

• building an insurance system for soldiers with Chinese characteristics is also an opportunity for the development of the insurance industry. Policy support from the government should be combined with market operations for commercial insurance to fully play its role and design innovative insurance products.

• the formal operation should be implemented based on the professional knowledge of insurance institutions.
