The State Council released a circular announcing changes in its leading group on promotion of the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on June 20.

The main responsibilities of the group will be directing and supervising the government’s work on promoting the development of SMEs, and helping resolve major problems in the process, the circular said.

The group will be headed by Vice-Premier Liu He. Members of the leading group include Miao Wei, minister of industry and information technology, Liu Kun, minister of finance, and senior officials from government departments.

The office of the leading group will be in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, undertaking daily work of the group, according to the circular.

Related departments should implement the assigned tasks, take the initiative to study major problems in promoting SMEs’ development, formulate supporting policies, and enhance coordination and information sharing, said the circular.
