The State Council has modified the national economic census regulation and published the new version on Aug 23.

According to the new version, the economic census should adopt a comprehensive survey, except sample surveys for small and micro-sized companies and self-employed businesses.

Industries covered by the economic census are those in the secondary and tertiary industries.

Organizations and personnel conducting the economic census should maintain the confidentiality of national secrets, commercial secrets and personal information they get from the census.

Local statistical authorities should punish anyone faking file and data in the census, and those who refuse or hinder the survey, or provide fake materials will also be warned or fined.
