The State Council has approved the plan on ecologic and economic development along the Hanjiang River.

The plan was put forward by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

According to the circular, implementing the plan should be in coordination with the Belt and Road Initiative, the coordinated development among Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province, and the development strategy of the Yangtze River economic belt.

The plan should be also focused on preventing and addressing major risks, targeted poverty alleviation and pollution control, the circular said.

Meanwhile, efforts should be made to improve the ecological environment along the Hanjiang River basin, make innovations in development and push forward new-type urbanization, to build an open and vigorous ecologic and economic belt.

Henan, Hubei and Shaanxi provinces should strengthen leadership and make work plans to ensure all tasks will be in place, the circular stated.

Related State Council departments should offer support with regard to institutional innovation, practices of policies, measures and major projects.

NDRC should enhance coordination and services, study and solve problems arising from implementing the plan while carrying out follow-up tracking and supervision. Also, major issues should be submitted to the State Council, the circular said.
