Updated: Jan 22,2020 17:32

Premier Li Keqiang visited an old residential community built in the 1980s in Xining, during his inspection to Northwest China's Qinghai province on Jan 22.

While visiting the home of Wang Ruizeng, who is retired, Premier Li asked him whether he wants to participate in the renovation of the residential areas, and the specific areas he wants to change. Premier Li also checked the bathroom and kitchen to see the aging water pipes.

Hearing that the Premier was visiting, many local residents came into the yard in the neighborhood. Premier Li asked them if they are willing to spend some money on the renovation of the old residential area, and they answered yes.

Premier Li said that renovating shantytowns has allowed many people to move into new homes. Now the renovation of old housing estates will be done on a large scale, to help local residents live a better life as soon as possible, he said.

Seeing that another old housing estate across the street acquired a completely new look after renovations, Premier Li said that there should be determination to do the people's will.

This project not only concerns people's lives, but also helps development. It can drive effective investment and improve people's quality of life and city's attraction, the Premier said.
