Construction of the world’s longest cantilever bridge was completed on Feb 11 in Yunyang county, southwest China’s Chongqing municipality.
Extending nearly 22 meters over a mountain edge — and 5 meters longer than the famous Grand Canyon Skywalk in Arizona — it rises 718 meters above the ground.
The glass-enclosed horseshoe-shaped walkway is expected to open to tourists in May.
Construction of the bridge, at a cost of 35 million yuan ($5.6 million), began in March 2014 and the project has a number of technical achievements to its credit.
