China will strengthen efforts to promote network speed, lower fees, accelerate 5G planning and more constructions and applications of industrial internet to develop a prosperous digital economy, Chen Zhaoxiong, vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), recently said.
Chen made the announcements at the 2017 PT Expo China (PTEXPO) hosted by MIIT, one of the largest and most influential ICT events in Asia, held in Beijing from Sept 27 to 30.
In the era of intelligent interconnection, network speed and communication quality to some extent determines the pace of development of industrial integration and quality. Accelerating the application of a new generation of information and communication technology and expanding the digital industry have become the driving force of economic growth and the key of old and new energy transformation.
China’s information and communication industry maintained rapid development, the total economic figure in 2016 reached 22.6 trillion yuan. It is also among the world leaders in 5G, research and development of the next generation of internet technology and standards making.
At the expo, Huawei demonstrated 5G technology research results and car networking, intelligent manufacturing and other applications. In a Xinhua report, Huawei said that new waveforms, new coding and other basic core technologies are adopted by international organizations as a unified global standard.
According to MIIT, China is currently making a series of positive progress in the 5G vision, needs, concepts, wireless technology and network architecture as well as speeding up the 5G planning. In the future, 5G, the next generation of the internet, industrial internet construction will all be further accelerated to enhance innovation capability of the network information technology and cultivate a new generation of artificial intelligence, block chain, virtual reality and other emerging technology industries.
“The Belt and Road Initiative” Trading Fair was introduced as a new series activity during the event, which connects entities from outside China with Chinese companies for international business promoting.
“Bonding people & people, technologies & technologies, people & technologies,” the 27-year-old PT Expo China proposes its new brand positioning this year. The letters P & T originally stand for “posts & telecoms,” which reflected the main exhibiting contents when the event was firstly held.
