BEIJING — China’s drug regulator said on Sept 7 that inspectors sent to 45 vaccine companies found no problems affecting vaccine quality and safety.

Between July 23 and Aug 9, the State Drug Administration (SDA) dispatched 45 inspection groups to various companies to conduct thorough screenings for vaccine safety risks, the SDA said on its website.

Among the companies, 38 vaccine makers were found to be complying with good manufacturing practices and other rules and regulations, while the other companies have halted production for more than three years and have no products being sold or used on the market, the authority said.

Inspectors have made comprehensive examinations on aspects including facilities and laboratory control, as well as materials, production and quality management.

The SDA said it will improve vaccine quality supervision to timely detect and eliminate safety hazards, and make sure local drug authorities will shoulder the responsibility of routine supervision on vaccine makers, keeping them in line with the regulations.
