State councilor addresses opening ceremony of IFRC in Beijing

State Councilor Wang Yong said the Chinese government attaches great importance to the development of the Red Cross humanitarian movement.

Wang made the comments at the 9th Asia-Pacific Conference of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, which opened in Beijing on Oct 22.

He said China actively supports communication and cooperation between the Red Cross Society of China and member Red Cross societies in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and other regions.

The Chinese government is willing to work with countries in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and other regions to meet humanitarian needs and challenges in a world which is going through complex and profound changes, and it is willing to spare no efforts to save people’s lives and protect their health, and also to promote world peace and development, Wang added.
