KUALA LUMPUR — Defense Minister Chang Wanquan met his Republic of Korea counterpart Han Min-Koo on Nov 4 and they pledged to deepen military cooperation between the two countries.
Chang said the two militaries have witnessed new development in their relations since this year.
The leaders of the two countries have reached many consensuses at their frequent meetings, mapping out the orientation for the development of bilateral relations, Chang said.
The defense departments of the two countries should actively implement the consensuses reached by the leaders of the two countries, continue to work together to strengthen communication and collaboration and expand pragmatic cooperation based on the existing foundation, Chang said.
Chang also told Han that China appreciates and speaks highly of the efforts by both sides on the Korean Peninsula to ease the tension and maintain stability, and hoped they will also strengthen communication and collaboration in order to create a good environment for the restart of the six-party talks.
For his part, Han said his country attaches great importance to the development of the ties between the two countries.
Han hoped the defense departments of the two countries will have frequent meetings at the high level, expand cooperation in neighboring regions and further boost the military ties between the two countries.
The ROK speaks highly of China’s constructive role in maintaining peace and security and in achieving denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula, hoping China will continue its efforts in this regard.
