State councilor urges innovation by central SOEs

At the launching ceremony of the 2016 Shining Star Innovation Contest in Beijing, State Councilor Wang Yong said on Oct 17 that central State-owned enterprises (SOEs) must focus on innovation-oriented development and cutting-edge technology.

Wang Yong also asked central SOEs to upgrade traditional manufacturing, integrate the internet with their existing businesses and develop high-end industry.

The Shining Star Innovation Contest is open to participants from central SOEs and other businesses. Innovative business plans in various fields including cyber security, big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and smart city can be submitted for competition. The winning projects will receive angel investments and other professional assistance for their launch.

The contest is organized by China Electronics Technology Group Corp.
