State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Ban Ki-moon, the newly elected chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), in Beijing on May 14.

Wang congratulated Ban on his election as the forum chairman and recognized the remarkable achievements made since the inception of the forum 17 years ago.

He hoped that, led by the new board of directors, the forum will represent Asia and reach out to the world, making greater contributions to solving problems in Asia and the world.

As the host country, China will continue to support the forum’s development, said the state councilor.

“In recent years, great changes have taken place in the international situation, with China becoming one of the leading economies in the world,” Ban said, adding that the forum will serve as a platform for dialogue between political, business and academic circles, and propose a Boao approach to the development of Asia and the world.
