State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Mozambican Foreign Minister Jose Pacheco and Zambian Foreign Minister Joseph Malanji separately in Beijing on Aug 31.

While meeting with Pacheco, Wang said China welcomes Mozambique’s participation in Belt and Road construction, and China is willing to cooperate with Mozambique in production capacity and industrial parks. Also, China will support Mozambique as the country explores its own way of sustainable development.

With the opportunity of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit, China-Mozambique ties will embrace a new level.

Pacheco said Mozambique is willing to take the signing of memorandums of understanding on Belt and Road cooperation as a chance to inject its efforts in creating a community of shared future for mankind.

While talking with Malanji, Wang said China will always put friendship with Zambia first in cooperation in various projects, guaranteeing social effectiveness and sustainable development. And China expects the summit to provide more opportunities for China-Zambia cooperation.

Malanji said the forum is a boost to South-South cooperation, and that Zambia is ready to go hand in hand with China to make it a success.

South-South Cooperation is a term historically used by policymakers and academics to describe the exchange of resources, technology, and knowledge between developing countries, also known as countries of the Global South.
