State Councilor Wang Yong called for enhanced efforts to guarantee the basic living conditions of disadvantaged groups to ensure them a warm Spring Festival, during an inspection to Southwest China’s Guizhou province from Jan 27 to 28.

Wang visited a community in Qiannan prefecture, an elderly service center, a care center for disabled people, and a children’s welfare house in Guiyang, capital of the province.

He learned about the implementation of policies guaranteeing their lives and solicited advice from grass-roots officials. Then he asked local governments to increase investment to secure people’s living conditions, and improve the mechanism with resource integration and information sharing.

Efforts should be made to ensure that all the people living in poverty and with disabilities enter a moderately prosperous society, the state councilor said.

Wang also called for developing the elderly care industry as the population ages. Reform in public services should be improved by introducing government purchasing services and volunteering, while enhancing supervision on those care centers, he added.
