BISHKEK — Kyrgyzstan will enhance cooperation with China on law enforcement and security, said Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov on May 14 when meeting with visiting State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Zhao Kezhi.

The Kyrgyz president asked Zhao to convey his cordial greetings and sincere wishes to President Xi Jinping, and congratulated China on the success of the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) held last month in Beijing.

Kyrgyzstan will provide unwavering support for jointly building the Belt and Road, said the president, adding that his country is willing to align its development strategy with that of China, cement bilateral cooperation in areas of law enforcement and security, and work together to crack down on the “three forces” of terrorism, separatism and extremism, in a bid to push forward the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

For his part, Zhao conveyed Xi’s good wishes to President Jeenbekov, saying that the important consensus on development of China-Kyrgyzstan relations and joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) reached by President Xi and President Jeenbekov during the second BRF would chart a course for the development of bilateral ties.

China is willing to work with Kyrgyzstan to implement the important consensus reached by the two countries’ heads of state, strengthen cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in combating the “three forces,” enhance security capacity for the Belt and Road construction, anti-drug and cyber security, and push cooperation between the two sides on law enforcement and security to a higher level, so as to add new impetus to the development of bilateral relations.

Zhao also said that China fully supports Kyrgyzstan in hosting the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek this year.
