State Councilor Wang Yong has called for increased efforts in developing a new model of urban and rural community governance.
Wang made the remarks in Beijing on June 6 while attending a symposium praising the outstanding representatives of community workers from urban and rural areas.
Wang pointed out that community is the place where people live and work, and the platform for exploring new ways of social governance.
Wang said that these community workers are role models for society, and that people should learn to serve the public, be eager to study and innovate, and to have the courage to bear responsibilities.
The public should be guided to participate in running their communities, said Wang.
