Vice-Premier Wang Yang met on June 6 with foreign leaders attending the second China-South Asia Expo(CSA) in Kunming, capital of southwest China’s Yunnan Province.

The six leaders are Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina Wajed, Nepal’s Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, Maldives Vice President Mohamed Jameel Ahmed, Laotian Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad, Deputy Speaker of Sri Lanka’s Parliament Chandima Weerakkody and Secretary-General of South Asian Association For Regional Cooperation(SAARC) Arjun Bahadur Thapa.

While meeting with Hasina, Wang said Bangladesh is an important cooperative partner of China in South Asia and the Indian Ocean region.

China is ready to work with Bangladesh to push forward the building of 21st century maritime Silk Road and the construction of the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar economic corridor, said Wang.

He said the Chinese government will encourage Chinese companies to invest in Bangladesh and expand imports from Bangladesh, in order to improve the trade imbalance.

While meeting with Koirala, Wang said China is willing to maintain high-level contacts with Nepal and cement good-neighborliness.

China will encourage enterprises to participate in bilateral cooperation in road, hydropower, tourism and herbal medicine, he said, adding that China is willing to provide assistance for Nepal’s economic development and social stability within its capacity.

While meeting with Jameel, Wang said China is willing to help Maldives to boost tourism promotion in China, encourage Chinese companies to invest in Maldives tourism infrastructure, and enhance bilateral cooperation in port, airport, fishing and coping with climate change.

While meeting with Somsavat, Wang said China will import more Laotian competitive products, support Chinese enterprises to take part in Laos’ municipal construction, push ahead infrastructure interconnection and encourage economic activities between Yunnan Province and the northern part of Laos.

While meeting with Weerakkody, Wang said China will work with Sri Lanka to speed up the construction of China-Sri Lanka free trade zone and encourage enterprises to expand investment in Sri Lanka.

While meeting with Thapa, Wang said China is willing to discuss with the SAARC on building a more pragmatic and effective cooperative mechanism and expanding areas of cooperation, so as to lift their relationship to a new level.
