Vice-Premier Liu Yandong inaugurated the China Hi-Tech Fair 2014 in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, on Nov 16.

The event — under the theme of innovation and green growth — covers an exhibition area of 110,000 square meters, according to Xu Qin, mayor of Shenzhen.

He said the fair has attracted more than 100 delegations from 50 countries and regions — involving about 3,000 exhibitors who have brought about 10,000 projects.

And, as the country is promoting the “Three Changes” — from “Made in China” to “Created in China”, from “Chinese speed” to “Chinese quality” and from “Chinese product” to “Chinese brand” — the fair focuses on showcasing technological achievements.

Xu said that the exhibits include inventions and achievements that earned the National Science and Technology Award — with about 200 items showcasing new technologies like the Chinese moon probe project.

The fair also focuses on the latest achievements of green and low-carbon industries, reflecting the results of the construction of ecological civilization.

Xu added that the China Hi-Tech Forum has organized a New Energy and Green Development Summit, which will offer experts an opportunity to discuss topics such as “New Urbanization and Development Opportunities for New Energy and Energy Efficiency“ and “The Current Situation of New Energy Autos in China and Industry Chains’ Development Opportunities”.

Hu Chunhua, Party chief of Guangdong province, and Wan Gang, minister of science and technology also attended the opening ceremony.
