Vice-Premier Liu Yandong said China will make more efforts to further regulate its ethnic affairs according to the law, and improve the system of regional ethnic autonomy — and she also spoke of the country’s achievement in uniting all its ethnic groups.
She made the comments when she attended a plenary session of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission in Beijing on Dec 24.
She said that regions inhabited by ethnic groups have witnessed progress in economic and social development over the past year.
And the vice-premier also said that people whose jobs are related to ethnic affairs should be responsible and understand the significance of their work.
She called for more efforts to boost development in ethnic minority areas and address major issues concerning the interests of various ethnic groups.
Liu said the government should strive to meet the requirements of ethnic people who migrate to cities and towns — and support their right to receive quality-education.
