Vice-Premier Wang Yang emphasized that responsibility should be assigned and mechanisms should be innovated to ensure drinking water safety in rural areas during a two day inspection in Sichuan province on Jan 14-16.
While in Sichuan, Wang visited a local construction site, there, the vice-premier talked with the workers about details of the construction of rural water supply. Wang said that the funding granted by the central government is adequate and there are no technical difficulties.
He added that reasonable water prices should be formed and the sales system should be improved. Wang said that market operations should be utilized for farmers and those who construct and administrate should be fully motivated. He also attached importance to water resource protection and water pollution prevention as a means to improve water quality.
Wang said the changing of the agricultural development process should be accelerated to achieve a sustainable healthy boost of agriculture.
