Vice-Premier Liu Yandong met with former US Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao and her family on Oct 22 in Beijing.
Liu appreciated that Chao - a Chinese American - made contributions to the building of China-US relations. She said that when President Xi Jinping visited the US in September, the two sides reached many agreements meaningful to their relationship. China is willing to strengthen political mutual trust, promote economic and trade cooperation and expand people-to-people exchanges with the US, she said.
Chao said that education cooperation and people-to-people exchanges are important to both countries. China and the US still have great potential for cooperation, she added.
