Vice-Premier Wang Yang stressed recently during a fact-finding visit in Hubei province that relocating poverty-stricken people is the fundamental method of poverty alleviation.

Relevant policies and deployment from the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council need to be carefully implemented, he said, to make sure all relocated people can be provided with new shelter, stable life and ways to make a living.

The area the vice-premier researched is adjoining the Tsinling Mountains in Hubei province. Known for its harsh ecological and living conditions, the region is densely populated with elderly and poverty-stricken residents.

After learning of the relocation work of the region, Wang praised the endeavors that local authorities have made, and asked them to further improve their work by promptly setting up a relocation platform and supervising the special fund. Also, he asked to build public service facilities and infrastructure equipment in the new residential areas, and provide assistance measures to help people shake off poverty.
