BEIJING — Vice-Premier Zhang Gaoli on July 6 stressed effectiveness in environmental supervision at a meeting held ahead of the dispatch of eight supervision teams.

The team will supervise environmental protection in eight provinces and regions including northeast Heilongjiang province and southwest Yunnan province.

Efforts should be made to evaluate how environmental protection laws and regulations are implemented, Zhang said, adding that the relationship between environmental protection and economic growth should be appropriately handled.

Zhang said the supervision procedures should be standardized, and rectification made during the supervision.
