Vice-premier promotes prosperous development of art in Shaanxi

Vice-Premier Liu Yandong attended the opening ceremony of the 11th China Art Festival and held talks with art workers on Oct 15 in Yan’an, Shaanxi province. During her visit, Liu also investigated local cultural work, the protection and utilization of relics left behind during the fight against Japanese invasion, and reforms in education and healthcare.

The vice-premier stressed increasing investment in Yan’an, the old revolution base, to allow local people to share the fruit of reform and development. While visiting revolutionary relics, Liu stressed that works of protection, management, displays and environment improvement should be considered as a whole. Modern technologies should be used to improve display standards, she added.

Liu also visited Yan’an University and Yan’an People’s Hospital, and stressed talent cultivation and medical care reform.

During a symposium with artists, Liu said that the central government attached great importance to the field and created many favorable conditions. She expressed the hope that they can create more good works.
