Vice-Premier Wang Yang emphasized the special role supply and marketing cooperatives play in boosting the supply-side structural reform during a national video conference on comprehensive reform of supply and marketing cooperatives in Beijing on Feb 24.
Supply and marketing cooperatives are major components in the agricultural economy of socialism using Chinese characteristics, and important tools for issues regarding agriculture, rural areas and farmers, according to Wang.
In line with the agricultural supply-side structural reform, comprehensive reforms will be carried out to build the supply and marketing cooperatives into platforms to serve farmers’ lives and production.
Wang spoke highly of the reforms and movements of the supply and marketing cooperatives in recent years.
He also stressed that efforts should be made to improve agricultural services and build the supply and marketing cooperatives into effective and marketized trans-regional economic organizations.
Efforts should also be made to maintain agricultural supplies and stabilize agricultural market prices during spring plowing, he said.
